ՈՍԿԱՆ ՄԽԻԹԱՐԵԱՆ 1966–ին աւարտած է Մեծի Տանն Կիլիկիոյ Կաթողիկոսութեան Դպրեվանքը ու ապա ձեռնադրուած կուսակրօն քահանայ: 1968-ին ներկայացնելով իր աւարտաճառը Ոսկան Երեւանցիի մասին, ստացած է Վարդապետական Աստիճան: 1966-1971 եղած է տեսուչ Կաթողիկոսարանի տպարանին եւ անգլերէն լեզուի ուսուցիչ Մարտիկեան վարժարանէն ներս: 1971-ին մեկնած է Միացեալ Նահանգներ, ուր ստանձնած է Հոլիվուտի Ամէնօրեայ Վարժարանի (ներկայիս՝ Ռոզ եւ Ալէք Փիլիպոս Վարժարան) տնօրէնութիւնն ու Հոլիվուտի հայահոծ գաղութին հոգեւոր հովուութիւնը: 1972-ին հիմնած է Կլէնտէյլի Ս. Աստուածածին եկեղեցին, որ Կիլիկիոյ Կաթողիկոսութեան Արեւմտեան Ամերիկայի թեմին ամենէն բարգաւաճ եկեղեցիներէն մէկն է այսօր: 1972-1974 Լոս Անճէլըսի Trade Technical College-ի մէջ հետեւած եւ աւարտած է ճարտարապետութեան (Architechtural Drafting) դասընթացքները ու ապա 1974-1976 Լոս Անճէլըսի City College-ի մէջ հետեւած եւ աւարտած է առեւտրական եւ կալուածային օրէնսգիտութիւն (Real Estate and Business Law): 1988-1989 հետեւած է Glendale School of Law-ի իրաւաբանական դասընթացքներուն, իսկ 1995–1996-ին ներկայացնելով իր թէզը (“The Court of International Trade” ) American University of Hawaii-էն ստացած է մագիստրոսութեան վկայականը (MBA):
1990-2000 եղած է դասախօս Մխիթարեան կաճառի Լոս Անճէլըսի մասնաճիւղին հայագիտական դասընթացքներուն՝ դասաւանդելով Կանոնագիտութիւն, Ազգային Սահմանադրութիւն եւ Հայ Եկեղեցւոյ պատմութիւն: 2000-2005 թուականէն աշխատակցած է Եղիայեան իրաւաբանական հաստատութեան հետ եւ իր բաժինը բերած է Նիւ Եորք Լայֆի դատավարութեան առընչուող բանասիրական պրպտումներուն մէջ:
2005-էն սկսեալ անհատապէս վարած է հետախուզական աշխատանքներ Ֆրանսայի Nantes քաղաքի՝ Արտաքին Գործոց Նախարարութեան արխիւներուն մէջ, եւ թուայնացուցած (digitize) է աւելի քան 60,000 էջ, սկսելով 1860-էն մինչեւ 1923 թուականը: Դարձեալ 2005-էն սկսեալ թուայնացուցած է աւելի քան 20,000 էջ՝ Ամերիկեան մամուլին մէջ լոյս տեսած ցեղասպանութեան վերաբերեալ յօդուածներու եւ ականատեսներու վկայութիւններուն, որոնց առաջին հատորը ( “Armenians At The Twilight of the Ottoman Era”) 2011-ին հրատարակուեցաւ Երեւանի մէջ, հովանաւորութեամբ եւ մեկենասութեամբ Հայաստանի Հանրապետութեան Սփիւռքի Նախարարութեան եւ «Փիւնիկ» Մարդասիրական Ընկերակցութեան:
2008-2009 դպրոցական տարեշրջաններուն վարած է Լոս Անճէլըսի Մխիթարեան Վարժարանի տնօրէնութիւնը: Այժմ կը շարունակէ իր բանասիրական աշխատանքները մասնաւորաբար ցեղասպանագիտութեան ոլորտին մէջ:
Vosgan Mekhitarian was ordained a priest upon graduating in 1966 from the Seminary of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia (Antelias, Lebanon). In 1968 he presented his thesis on Vosgan Yerevantzi and was awarded the degree of Vardapet of the Armenian Church. From 1966 to1971 he served as the Director of the Printing House of the Catholicosate and taught English at Mardikian School. In 1971 he moved to the United States as principal of the Daily Armenian School (now Rose & Alex Pilibos) and pastor of the burgeoning Armenian community of Hollywood, California. In 1972 he founded the St. Mary’s Armenian Church in Glendale, California, which today is the most flourishing parish of the Western Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church in America. From 1972 to1974 he attended and completed the course of Architectural Drafting at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College. From 1974 to1976 he attended and completed Real Estate and Business Law courses at Los Angeles City College. From 1988 to1989 he continued his studies in law at the Glendale School of Law, and in 1996, upon presenting his thesis on The Court of International Trade, he received his MBA degree from the American University of Hawaii.
From 1990 to 2000 Vosgan Mekhitarian lectured on Canon Law, the Armenian National Constitution, and History of the Armenian Church at the Mekhitarist Fathers’ Academy in Los Angeles. From 2000 to 2005 he collaborated with the Yeghiayan Law Firm, contributing to the Firm’s research, related to litigation involving New York Life Insurance Co., et al.
Since 2005 he has conducted his own research in the archives of the Foreign Ministry of France– located in the city of Nantes — and has digitized over 60,000 pages of documents related to Armenia and the Armenians, covering the period of 1860-1923. In addtion he has digitized over 20,000 pages of articles as well as narratives of witnesses of the Armenian Genocide found in the American press. The first volume of these documents, titled “Armenians At The Twilight of The Ottoman Era,” was published in 2011, in Yerevan, Armenia, under the aegis of the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia and Pyunik — All Armenian Foundation for Human Recources Development.
From 2008 to 2009 he served as principal of the Mekhitarist Fathers’ School in Los Angeles.
At present Mr. Mekhitarian pursues his research, particularly in the field of genocide studies.
