AN OPEN LETTER TO THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE WESTERN PRELACY OF THE ARMENIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH OF AMERICA OF THE GREAT HOUSE OF CILICIA

The delegation of the Armenian youth faithful appeals to you in the name of justice to have the courage to listen to your conscience and harken to the voice of justice of God.
The time for a revolution and change has come. Therefore we appeal to you, Dear Representatives, to have the vision of fair judgment and to not give in to coercive pressures and one-sided instructions, for, otherwise, history will write your names in black and you will be subject to the denunciation of future generations.

We pose the following question to you: Whom do you want to elect as prelate?
1. He about whom hundreds of humiliating pages were written?
2. He who has shamelessly and explicitly stumbled morally several times?
3. He who, in complicity with higher bodies, has demoralized The Armenian Church, our Prelacy, and the Holy See of Cilicia on account of position, money, and egoistic glory-seeking?
4. He who dishonored and tarnished the reputation of the Cilician Brotherhood through his petty character and calculations, his vengeful spirit and by exploiting his office?
We are disillusioned–we and, with us, the entire community. The Prelacy is abject vis à vis Armenians and non-Armenians alike. In full knowledge of all these facts, it is only you who can put an end to this sorry and undesirable condition. How? Here below is the solution:
(a) You do not attend the Representatives’ Convention to elect the prelate. Or—
(b) If you attend, you cast a blank ballot, and—
(c) You insist on secret balloting, and—
(d) If the Vehapar, under pressure or for any other considerations, has included the names of otherwise two lesser known candidates in addition to the name of Moushegh Serpazan in the candidates’ list—which, of itself, is offensive to the dignity of those two candidates—you, the electors, can propose the candidacy of a fourth person among the members of the Cilician Brotherhood who may be better known to the faithful of the Prelacy.

Let this election be a wake up call to reorganize our Prelacy with new and fresh blood. It is high time for a bold and historical action.
Long live the liberating democracy of our Church!
Long live the Holy See of the Great House of Cilicia!

“Blessed are those who strive for justice, for they will be called sons of God.”
